Our Vacation Bible School at the beginning of August was a huge success. We had many more children registered and attending than in the past 4 years. Ninety-one children were registered, but not everyone came on the same day. On the day with the largest attendance we had 77 Rafters present. It took the efforts of many individuals to provide a positive experience for all those in attendance, so it was all hands to the oars! I’m truly grateful to all the adults and teen helpers that volunteered and worked each day. It really does take a village, or a church with a giving heart, to provide this kind of VBS for the community.

The Rafters were treated to stories, games, music, and crafts each of the five days. Of course the snacks were one of their favorite things! It was a pleasure to share the love of Jesus with these happy children. They heard about disciples being called, Mary and Martha, Zacchaeus, the Last Supper, and the Great Commission. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful hot dog lunch on Friday, when families were invited to join their Rafters.

Your support, as a church, with donations and man power, helps us to provide the kind of radical hospitality that is drawing participants to the program. A special thank you is due to the kind persons that donated money to sponsor the t-shirts, life vests, hats, and craft kits for the participants. Also thank you to First United Methodist Church in Turlock and Grace Lutheran Church in Modesto for the donation of decorations and supplies.

After a little break, we’ll be planning for next year. I know I can count on fabulous support again

for VBS in 2019!
